NYC Christmas Trip (More!)

Hope everyone had a wonderful, blessed Christmas! I know the snow changed a lot of plans for people around here, hope you guys weren't effected as well! So, with the blur of the holidays over, thought I'd take a little time to share some more about our family trip to NYC for Christmas.

We arrived Sunday evening on the train and left Thursday morning, but managed to fit quite a bit into those few days while we were there. First stop was the ferris wheel in the Toys R Us at Times Square. We went around 9:30 Sunday night, so there wasn't a wait at all. Walker could probably have spent the entire four days in that store and would have been just fine, but I did manage to wrangle him out.

We did the cheesy tourist thing (which I always do in big cities) and hopped on the double-decker bus tour. I love these things because they are basically taxis that show you all of the sites you want to see! And in the winter, they have clear tops on them so you can still see everything and stay warm! We rode down to battery park, saw the financial district, site of the World Trade Center, and the Statue of Liberty. Then, we jumped back on the next bus and rode through Little Italy, saw the Brooklyn Bride, Chinatown and jumped back off at Radio City to walk back to our hotel to switch to our new one, The Roosevelt.

I booked these hotels online through Priceline a while back, if you remember, and got great rates at The Roosevelt. The hotel lobby was gorgeous, with a beautiful tree and Christmas decorations hanging everywhere. The lobby smelled like cinnamon and pine and everyone was so nice. We lucked out and got a corner room, so it was pretty big, but there was certainly nothing fancy about it, if that's what your looking for, but it worked just perfect for us!

We definitely wanted to take Walker ice-skating while in NYC, but the wait at Rockefeller Center was ridiculous. Someone told Mike about Bryant Park and said it was a great place to go - and it was! Skating was free, rentals were $13 each and there was no wait! We actually went skating two nights since Walker loved it so much - and I definitely got a workout picking him up off the ice over and over again. But he was a trooper and never gave up!

The beautiful department stores and store window decorations that were amazing. I think the Saks Five Avenue windows were my favorite. We also visited Santaland at Macy's and Walker got to sit with Santa. Afterwards, he informed me that this was not the real Santa because he had makeup on his face!

We rode a carriage through Central Park, visited the Central Park Zoo, Top of the Rock and shopped a little as well. I wanted to see the Anthropologie store in Rockefeller Center and it was beautifully decked out for Christmas. Walker loved the Lego, Nintendo and NBA store, and he picked up a new Lebron James jersey at the latter.

The  gentleman at FAO Schwartz was a Nicks fan, so he covered up the Heat name when we posed with him.

On to the Apple store, where we played for a while, and I picked up a new toy for all of us for Christmas...now if I could only get it away from Walker...

And that's our trip in a whirlwind! I'm so glad we got to experience the city at Christmas as a family. Tomorrow I'll share pics from the stars we saw while we were in the city!

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
