Working on Ten

Self Portrait Reflection Through a Window

Nine years of marriage didn't used to sound like a lot of time together, back when marriages lasted forever and "till death do you part" was actually taken seriously.

But I'm proud of our nine years together. We've managed to overcome some pretty big obstacles, parenting, four surgeries and my craziness that flairs up now and again.

We're really not what you'd call a typical couple, by any means. We have seventeen years between us in age. When I was born, he was hitch-hiking his way across the US to get to San Francisco, where they wore flowers in their hair.

Two weeks ago, when Walker stayed one evening with my mom, we decided to catch up on some housework with delivery pizza for dinner. As Mike was folding clothes, and I was touching up some paint on the ceiling in the family room, I looked at him and said, "Look at us. We are sooo not typical."

Mike says, "Yeah, but it works for us."

I replied, "Yep, it sure does."

  3. My marriage is not a typical one either, I am 10 yrs older than my husband. Yes I was a cougar before they came up with that work (and I had no MONEY just two teenage kids). But whatever we did is works, we celebrated our 25th anniversity a week ago, and last Saturday our oldest Grandson got married. I honestly don't know what we did right but I can honestly say it doesn't seem like 25 yrs have gone by. Just keep up what you are doing and you will be at your 25th before you know it.

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
