Waiting for opening day. No floaties this year,
not for a big boy of four. Jumping, swimming, laughing, splashing. The smell of chlorine in the air. Summer is coming.
I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...

ReplyDeleteI'm a swim instructor and unfortunately, the smell of chlorine just seems to surround me at all times. It used to get me excited for summer, now I just think of it as "my fragrance." It's honestly never out of my hair! ha ha!
Opening day for our outdoor pool at the Y will be at the end of this month but at times it's still way too cold...brrrr... I imagine it's warmer sooner where you are.

We are anxiously waiting at our house two. I have two swimmers and one to go. And this is the year... he's 3 and he's already been practicing in the tub. As God is my witness next year at this time I will be blogging about how happy I am that I can sit and read a book and sip a drink instead of spending every single minute in the pool catching a flying child. Enjoy your first chair-sittin' summer you lucky girl!
