Goals Are Dreams With Deadlines...

I'm so thrilled and excited to say I have now officially met and surpassed my fundraising goal for the upcoming Avon Walk for Breast Cancer!

In 2007, I raised funds in honor of a lady at my church that was battling breast cancer, and she has since lost her fight. I continue to participate in this cause because breast cancer does affect so many people and I want to make a difference for our future.

In May, we will be heading up north to participate in the DC walk, and if you'd like me to walk in honor of or in memory of someone, please e-mail me their name and I will write the name on my number, on my back for all to see.

Our team has raised more than $87,505.90 since we started in 2006 and we're just getting started!

Now, I've just got to get my body in the walking mode so I can walk, and walk, and walk and walk and walk. Thank you to everyone that made this happen! Maybe next week's trip to Disney will be a great way to start! Now if I could just find the right shoes...but that's another post...

  1. Oh, a trip to Disney is a great place to start training. :-) All the dodging of other people, characters and strollers will get you in shape!

That is fantastic that you exceeded your fundraising goal!

  2. Congrats on surpassing your goal! I think it is wonderful and I love what you are doing. Both my grandmothers had breast cancer and I think it is so important for people to support research for this cause.

So sad to hear that you lost one of your inspirations... this is why we continue the fight though, I guess.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
