Madder than a Wet Hen

Sunday afternoon, I went to the grocery store, came home, left the car unlocked for hubs to get the groceries out (hey, I buy, he puts them up) and I forgot to lock the car back. Monday morning, I get into the car and everything has been pulled out of the glove compartment, middle console and backseat pockets.

Unfortunately, the little guy left his Nintendo DS Lite in the back because he was playing it at the yard sale this weekend. It's the only thing of value I left in the car and they got it. It just makes me so mad.

Now I feel like an idiot - I haven't reported it to the police yet because I don't want a lecture about locking my car doors at night - I know I'm supposed to, just forgot!!!!

Hubs is now obsessed with catching the criminals, sleeping with one eye open at night. I'd heard that the economy has caused more crime, but why did they have to steal from us, from my little guy?

  6. That is so sad! I seriously don't understand why people do such things.

Some time ago, my cd player was stolen out of my car. I had left the doors unlocked as well...I just felt like such a dummy! But...it's something that can happen to anyone. Don't feel too bad. At least they didn't take the car!

  7. OH NO!

I would still call the police...just to cover all of you bases.

My bicycle was stolen about a year ago because I forgot to lock it back up...I called the police anyway, and yes I got the lecture...but they found my $700 bicycle!

  8. It just makes you feel violated. Someone stole my husbands pressure washer a couple of months ago...so I know how you feel. This is a crazy world that we will live...what happen to the days where you could leave your house and not lock the door??

  10. That happened to my family once a long time ago. Our car was taken by the valet in the city and my sister and I left our brand new gameboys (they are old school compared to the DS!) we got for christmas the night before and we had like 20 games also. it stinks! I have a bad habit of not locking my car at night and I park it on the street also, i'm surprised noone has torn it apart yet!

  18. I found you over at the Pink Cupcake. First of all, I'm sorry that happened to you and your son! What a shame! :( On a lighter note though, I just wanted to leave a comment about how cute your blog is! Love the banner! Hope you guys find the criminals who stole from you! God bless and take care!

  19. Ugh. I'm so sorry to hear about the theft! It's horrible to think that your space has been invaded that way! I had been on a get-a-dog kick after the last round of burglaries, b/c I had called our local PD and they said that dogs actually do deter break-ins. Did little Southern Puppy seem weird that night? At any rate, I'm sorry!!! Jay would be at a loss w/out his DS! In fact I'm pretty sure he would demand we march right over to Target to find a replacement! Sad.

  20. oh that's so frustrating! In our town, people have been stealing car keys out of the lockers at the gym and then going out to the parking lot and hitting the key fob until they find the right car - and then they clean you out! I guess in these hard economic times, you can't be too careful. Glad there weren't other things in your car!

  25. I'm sorry your little guy lost his DS to thieves but like you said it is the times. Crime rate is soaring...Here we have had a rash of people stealing your groceries out of the back of your car while you are trying to get them in the house. Police are telling everyone to lock the back up between trips from the car to the house..It's a sad time we live in right now.

  26. ugh! I can totally relate to this! I had a package that was taken off my front doorstep a few days ago, because I get home late from work and the mailman comes around 3pm. So frustrating. I am so sorry!

  27. I'm sorry! This recently happened to my husband and luckily there wasn't much taken; however, it is an uneasy feeling to know that someone went though your belongings.

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
