Our Greatest Presidents...Have Come to Us in the Worst of Times

I just heard this quote on CBS and thought it was so appropriate.

I am so excited about the future that lies ahead and hope that we can all come together and support our new president, whether we voted for him or not, whether we're black or white, Christian or not, young or old. This new presidency means that this country is finally ready for change, that my son will grow up in a world that is just a little better and a little more accepting of others than it was before. That we are becoming a nation that is colorblind - blue state, red state, black skin, white skin - we are all one. It means that anything is possible - for me, as a woman, for my son, for the future. This inauguration means everything to this country and we cannot wait to see what President Obama can do to help this country mean something more than what it has become. We no longer want to be a land of overindulgance, of spoiled rotten Americans - we want to be known as a land of possibilities and dreams. Dreaming big brought our ancestors to this country, and we look to President Obama to help make our dreams come true. True leadership is what our country needs - and my hope is that he can lead us into better times.
Some people think too much is being made over his ability to change our world - but why not believe in him? What harm does it do to stand behind him and give him the support he needs to turn this country around? This isn't religion - this is governance - and we all need religion, but we can't all govern.

By the way, have you had the chance to read Obama's letter to his daughters?

  12. Thank you for the comment you left on my blog yesterday. I wrote another follow up post today regarding some of the comments I've read around the blogosphere. I'd love for you to check it out if you have some time.

And thanks for the link to the letter. It is very heartwarming, and I hope that the Obama girls will grow to understand how grateful so many people are for the sacrifices that their family is willing to make in the next four (eight?) years.

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
