Fall Trend You Think You Hate, But You Don't: Booties & Oxford Heels

I've been watching the new fall trends in the magazines and the shoeboot/bootie and oxford heel is a trend that definitely has me intrigued. I've always loved chunky, fun and eccentric shoes, so I know this is something I've gotta try.

Booties especially are such a dramatic look, I did some research online for how to be a funky fashionista in booties and here are some suggestions for how to successfully pull off this look:

- worn best with long tunic tops and skinny jeans and short dresses and tights
- also look great with the new menswear look popular this fall - tailor pants and vests
- if you have thick ankles or wide calves go for a style that is not too chunky or dainty
- don't hide them under long dresses or baggy pants - these shoes are to be noticed!

Here are a couple I think are fun enough to still feel fresh, but aren't too much for the office or date night/girl's night out.

Tory Burch 'Whitney' Bootie
Pura Lopez 'N255' Oxford
Betsey Johnson Terra Tie Pump

  1. Love these! If I weren't close to 6 ft tall, I'd want the lower two pair...

Madder than a Wet Hen

Sunday afternoon, I went to the grocery store, came home, left the car unlocked for hubs to get the groceries out (hey, I buy, he puts them up) and I forgot to lock the car back . Monday morning, I get into the car and everything has been pulled out of the glove compartment, middle console and backseat pockets. Unfortunately, the little guy left his Nintendo DS Lite in the back because he was playing it at the yard sale this weekend. It's the only thing of value I left in the car and they got it. It just makes me so mad. Now I feel like an idiot - I haven't reported it to the police yet because I don't want a lecture about locking my car doors at night - I know I'm supposed to, just forgot!!!! Hubs is now obsessed with catching the criminals, sleeping with one eye open at night . I'd heard that the economy has caused more crime, but why did they have to steal from us, from my little guy?

The Power of Prayer

I wanted to update on a previous post about my uncle ( you can read it here ). In September, he was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. He has undergone numerous rounds of chemo and radiation and received results back from his latest PET scan this Monday. Of chief concern was the tumor in the lower lobe of the right lung and the lymph nodes in the center of his chest. The scan showed that there was NO cancer activity in the lymph nodes! All in all, it was a great report! My aunt and uncle, with their grandkids. My prayer list is long for friends and family members struggling with disease and lately, I hear of so many children struggling as well. It's so hard not to question God during these times, but to put complete faith in him - which is much easier said than done! Isaiah 40:31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Pretty Women

I think I've seen the movie Pretty Woman about 100 times and it will always be my favorite. My husband thinks it's the cheesiest movie he has ever seen, but hey, he's not the target audience. So, my tour of Rodeo Dr started at the Reg Bev Will (Pretty Woman fans, you know what I'm talking about). Walking through it, the lobby looked so much smaller than in the movie. We ended up at the back entrance, and plopped down on a bench and acted like we owned the place for a bit while watching for anyone famous. We saw numerous $100 thousand+ cars, and one chick with long blonde hair (only from the back) that had to be famous, but we didn't see her face. Then, we walked down Rodeo, into a couple of stores that I couldn't afford to buy a keychain in, tried on a $1,200 pair of shoes, and walked right into a celebrity sighting. One of my goals while in LA was to see someone famous. And, she may not be on the A-list, but it was still pretty cool. Meet the beautiful Cam
