Weekend Whatevers

This weekend was a blur. In fact, lately, the days just seem to be running together. Before we know it, Christmas will be here, then spring break and pool time once again.

I picked my little guy up from school Friday and we headed to Target (aka, the toy store) for some shopping. Mama needed groceries and Walker "needed" a toy. A new BeyBlade it was. I believe we now have 18 in our house. These things are just over-blinged, over-priced, crazy-named toy tops. Why didn't I think of this?

Yesterday we headed to Roxboro to see the family and celebrate my grandmother's birthday. After years and years of not really knowing what was causing her to lose her sense of smell and appetite, and not be able to swallow or smile, she was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. They've put her on some meds and yesterday I saw her smile for the first time in quite a while. It was a great thing to see.

Then we visited with my dad a while at his house and Walker and his cousin Gavin rode four-wheelers with "Grandaddy Ray".  Gavin decided to spend the night with us last night, but the boys were so tired, it wasn't much of a sleepover.  And lucky me, even though we did get an extra hour last night, at 6:30 am this morning, the boys were jumping all over me and ready to play for the day.

Today was comprised of church, lunch at the mall, a visit to the playground, fort-building in the woods, a quick stop by the local thrift shop (scored a fabulous lamp), a little house-cleaning to get ready for the week and a trip to the grocery store! Whew!

This week should be much better than the last couple of weeks - I'm hoping to actually have some down time to write more here, so hold me to it!

I asked Walker tonight if he had a good weekend and he looked at me funny and said, "Mommie, why do people always ask that? Everyone asks me that at school on Mondays."

And I actually had to think about my answer before I responded. I wasn't absolutely sure myself, but I said, "Because weekends are supposed to be fun, and everyone wants to know you had a fun weekend."

And we certainly did have a fun one this weekend. Hope you did too!

  1. It was a great weekend, and Audrey looked happier than I had seen her in years. Your picture captured it so well!

Madder than a Wet Hen

Sunday afternoon, I went to the grocery store, came home, left the car unlocked for hubs to get the groceries out (hey, I buy, he puts them up) and I forgot to lock the car back. Monday morning, I get into the car and everything has been pulled out of the glove compartment, middle console and backseat pockets.

Unfortunately, the little guy left his Nintendo DS Lite in the back because he was playing it at the yard sale this weekend. It's the only thing of value I left in the car and they got it. It just makes me so mad.

Now I feel like an idiot - I haven't reported it to the police yet because I don't want a lecture about locking my car doors at night - I know I'm supposed to, just forgot!!!!

Hubs is now obsessed with catching the criminals, sleeping with one eye open at night. I'd heard that the economy has caused more crime, but why did they have to steal from us, from my little guy?

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest!

To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!!

So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop. So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want!

So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out! And may the force be with you!
