Spooky Stuff - Halloween Mantle!

The annual Halloween mantel is officially up!

This year, I used some of the same elements from past years, but also ventured out to the Dollar Store to pick up some new items for next to nothing! I finished it off with a homemade printable in a Gothic frame I bought at TJ Maxx from the clearance section.

I pulled some books from the shelf in the family room, and found the large vase that's sitting on top of the books under the house. I haven't used it in a while and it was this ugly puke green color, so I grabbed some black spray paint and made it "Halloweeny." Items I picked up from the Dollar Store: mini skulls to fill the vases, black mesh fabric, moss and mini pumpkins. I found the black owl candle at World Market, and the bird was from Michael's.

I made the owl art from some images I found online. I think birds just add an extra creepy factor to Halloween - especially owls! Those eyes just give me the willies! To print your own, just click here.

I'm still working on a couple of other decorations for the house...stayed tuned to see what fun and frightening things I come up with!!

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
