Home Again, Home Again...

Yes, the home idea and renovation posts have been sparse. But fear not, dear readers, I'll be back in the home project state of mind very soon. With all of the parties and benefits and volunteer work I've been doing in my spare time, not much progress has happened here.

I've got tons of work to do around here, and have sworn myself no new home projects until I finish the ones I've already started. Let's list them out, shall we?

There's the front porch I'm refinishing and planning to stencil with a really cool pattern. So far, I've sanded (thanks to dad for the electric sander) and applied the first coat of paint. Here's my attempt to try to match the color that's already there...

Then, we have the awful mirror I've ripped the matting off because I hated it. My plan is to create a gallery wall a la John and Sherry from different prints and framed art I've accumulated at thrift shops and throughout the years. This room needs a lot of work actually...so I'm gonna just keep moving and not think about how much I'm disliking the look of that end table right now...

Then I need to finish painting Walker's room, that I started painting about two months ago in his "big boy" colors. I don't have a picture of this one, but trust me, it's halfway complete. Or at least a third...

Not to mention the work I want to do on the downstairs bath, inspired by this photo. I've finally found the wallpaper, not just need to post a SOS on Craig's List for someone to hang it.

And I'm getting new carpet all upstairs this summer. Between a toddler, a dog and a cat, it's lookin rough and I think it's probably the carpet that was put in this house when it was built in the 80s.

So, that's just a little of what I've got going on in the house these days. Every time I look at Pinterest, I fall in love with another home project, so let's hope I can finally get these checked off my to-do list so I can add some new ones!

Hopefully I'll be able to post some progress and completion pics soon, so stay tuned!

How about you guys? Have any projects you just can't seem to finish up? Hopefully spring will get us all motivated!

  1. I'm hesitating on what color I'm going to paint our kitchen cart, and as of this morning I'm thinking about repainting the whole kitchen/living room area. I get ahead of myself, but I can't help it. I love it! And that wallpaper is FANTASTIC!

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
