February Made Me Shiver

I'm a bit quiet this week, thus the lack of posts. It's not that my mind isn't filled with dreams of paint swatches and remodeling, to-do lists and plans. I'm just not in a motivated mood and February isn't making me get up and go.

February is always a bit of a lengthy, slow month to me. It's the last step in the bridge towards spring and most often I want to jump over it and get on with things. Valentine's day comes mid-month, filled with hearts and love, but is quickly forgotten as fast as the chocolates can be devoured.

February is kinda like a Tuesday. Tuesdays are probably my least favorite day of the work week. Not the first day, not the middle, not the next to the last or the last work day. Just Tuesday. Tuesday used to be the worse night of television as well, but at least now it has Glee.

I'm ready to get outside, sit by the sidelines at soccer practice and check my flowers for new buds. Ready to open the windows and let the cool air in and drive home from work with the sun still high in the sky.

I know I shouldn't rush time along but should enjoy every second I'm given. So, I'm trying to do that by living in the moment and being appreciative for February.

So I've gathered some facts about February, to help remember why I should like this month and what makes it special:
  • February Holidays include Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day and President's Day. (Probably never heard those three things mentioned in a sentence together have you?)
  • It's the shortest month of the year. (Maybe that's why it's so forgettable)
  • February is Black History Month
  • February 21st is Love Your Pet Day
  • The SuperBowl and the Oscars typically occur in February.
  • St Valentines Day was originally thought to be the day on which birds chose their mates

  1. February is a weird month! BUT, January was so long to me, so I kind of looked forward to turning the calendar over. :)

  2. I agree. It is the shortest month but yet it feels like the longest. We have had some cold weather her in the triangle, but I sure am enjoying the weather this week.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
