My Haunted House: Halloween Decor

I decided to go a bit further than usual with the outdoor Halloween decor this year. More than just the normal punkins (as Walker calls them). Even Lucy got into the "spirit"! Doesn't she look possessed?

Mike thinks I'm possessed. I assured him that since it is October, it is OK for me to decorate for Halloween already. I tried not to go too overboard.

The corner pumpkin lots opened this weekend, so Walker and I spent about 30 minutes picking out the perfect pumpkins for the front steps. Of course, he wants to carve them all. I love the contrast of the white and orange pumpkins and really wanted more, but I stopped myself at 10.

My favorite part of the front is the happy orange light-up pumpkin I nestled into my honeysuckle vine, along with some orange flicker lights I picked up at Michael's this weekend.

I'll call this sophisticated spooky.

  5. Your decor totally gets me in the Halloween mood... it's hard to feel "halloweeny" when its 85 degrees out! Love the white pumpkins too!

  6. LOVE "sophisticated spooky" :) Halloween gives us all permission to go overboard... pumpkins are cheap here in NC, anyway ;)

  8. Looks good! Subtle and classic - not crazy at all.

If your husband thinks this is overboard, he would want to check me into a mental institution.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
