A Good Pillow

...is hard to find.

When last we left "The Room", I showed you my idea for window treatments from a duvet cover. I still haven't finished painting yet, but I'm slowly making progress.

I have been on the lookout for accessories, more specifically, throw pillows. So. Hard. To. Find. At least, hard to find ones that are cute, colorful and affordable - my three top criteria.

There are some wonderful ones on Etsy for sure, but they can get a bit pricey because they are custom made. Some places I've found good pillows, but not necessarily in my colors, are HomeGoods, Target, TJ Max and Pier One. But have you ever looked at the pillows and home accessories at Urban Outfitters? We dropped into one while we were in Charleston because I wanted to check out their home stuff I'd seen online and I was pretty impressed. The style is somewhat similar to some of the items you'd find at Anthropologie, but nowhere near as expensive.

I picked up these two for $32.00 each. Of course, still not cheap, but they look really expensive. I love the feel of these and the velvet puff comes in a bunch of different colors. I may just have to go back and get more!

Urban Outfitters has lots of other cool, fun house decor. Here are some of my faves.

What about you guys? Have you found some great things at Urban Outfitters? Any other good resources for throw pillows?

  3. I'm a stay-at-home mom married to a school teacher in a very low-paying state, so I don't think I could ever pay $32 for a pillow...but OH MY that blue pillow is the most BEAUTIFUL pillow I have ever seen! I might just have to ask Santa for it!

  4. I have been purposefully avoiding going to UO website cause I know I will want everything. And then you go and post things that I think are SO cute! Darn you!! :)

  5. I love that round blue fella. Yummy. There's quite a trend these days of pillow covers that are very affordable ($10-ish) so you can swap out every once in awhile without breaking the bank. Of course you have to invest in a pillow form but after that, the covers are pretty cute and very affordable. Beth/Bath/Beyond has them, as does Target, Wal-Mart and Pottery Barn. Though I think PB stuff is terrible quality and avoid it like that plague if it's anything that will be used like bed linens, etc. Just sayin'.

  8. Very cute. They really do look expensive, which can be hard to find. Although that price tag is a little more than I've usually spent on pillows, I think these are great finds... and worth the little extra! :)

  9. My retail gurus tell me Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters are the same company... making Urban Outfitters brand geared toward the "younger" crowd and somewhat "less expensive."

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
