When You Have Boys

Snips and snails and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of.

Which makes them inclined to play with things like this:

Walker was in heaven this past Saturday when he was able to visit his friend Bowen's house. Bowen literally has a small pet store in his room including a snake, bearded dragon and a gecko. Not to mention the many fossils and bones he has gathered.

Of course, now Walker wants one of these (see below) from Santa Claus. I'm trying to convince him that Rock Band would be so much more fun. But I'm not sure I can be convincing enough.

He is kinda cool.

  1. There is just no way on God's green earth I could sleep knowing a reptile, especially one of the legless variety (if you know what I mean), is somewhere in my house. I have trouble just going to the bathroom in the middle of the night after seeing reports on the internet of visitors creeping their way through people's plumbing. :>)

My vote would be for Rock Band, too! Good luck!

  2. Don't let him talk to Ryan about that bearded dragon! He has been "pest"ering me to get one for the past year - at 15 he still wants all the critters!!! He's had snakes, mice, hamsters, turtles...but then again, I begged my folks for an otter when I was his age - "it can live in the bathtub"!!!

  4. eek! :) the old friends' house we went to on Sunday for a bday party had some lizards too! I was known, when I was little, for bringing frogs in the house in my pocket every now and then, saying Mom look at this, hahah :)

  7. WOW, those are cool! Owen is so uninterested in his beta fish and frogosphere...I'm just waiting for this phase to kick in - and so is Nate, who had an iguana in college. Good luck!

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
