My Desk

You know how Vanity Fair does those cool articles on famous people's desks? Well, since I'm almost famous now, I thought you all would like to see where I spend my days...

Desk

1. Collection of pens. Most recent purchase, the Sharpie Pen. I have about eight already. They only have roller balls here and I hate those things. I'm very picky about my writing instrument.

2. Ibuprofen. It's an office staple and it's my month to supply the goods when people come looking for it.

3. My little guy's birth announcement. It reads "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

4. Diploma from THE University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. Let's people know I'm a Tar Heel right from the minute they walk in my office.

5. All of the Christmas cards I've sent out since Walker was born with his picture on them. Love looking at all of them and comparing how much he has grown. And it reminds me of Christmas, which always makes me smile when I'm having a stressful day.

6. Dumbbell. Gives me something to do on long conference calls. People laugh at me when they walk by and I'm doing my reps. That's ok, wait till I show them the big guns one of these days. Everyone should have an office dumbbell.

7. Original art by Kelly Dew from LabourLove Gallery. I won it when I went to a painting class there a couple of months ago.

8. Corporate color palette. You think after being here for almost six years I could remember the CMYK and RBG mixes, but I suck at memorization.

9. Tea for when I get sick of Diet Coke and I need something different to keep me going. Plus I feel so much cooler when I walk around drinking tea. And I look cooler too. I just know it.

10. One of my favorite pictures of my husband. He's swinging a golf club at Grandfather Mountain. He looks so ready for the PGA in this photo.

11. When I have the urge to shop online, I just read this quote from my board "We'd all be happier and live longer, more likely than not -- If we'd stop craving things we WANT and want the things we've GOT." Most of the time it doesn't work, but sometimes it does.

Comments

  1. I love seeing other's work spaces - I still have yet to get my UNC diploma framed :( My husband's hangs proudly in our home until he gets his own office, but I have yet to search for mine to get framed - I'm praying it's at my parent's house still!

PS - I am loving the new header/design (it could have been around for a while, I've been slack and just reading from google reader)!

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
