My House is a Circus

So why not use it as inspiration for a new room I'm working on?

You may remember this room, that my sweet, crazy puppy Lucy has destroyed. I'm hoping that her puppy ways are over and I can get back to claiming this room as part of our house, and actually getting some use out of it. It started as a guest room when we moved in four years ago, but we never really have overnight guests, so it was a bit of wasted space. Then the crazy dog moved in and took over. Now, I've got some fun plans to make this into a playroom/office/Wii room/homework/hangout room for our family.

I've been thinking about this room for a year because I'm very non-committal about decorating. I'm getting new floors put in at the end of this month, so it's time to commit. I totally fluctuate towards the vintage/cottage look these days but I didn't want the room to look too stuffy or be too cottage or too vintage.

I was browsing Etsy last night and came across the picture below in the top left corner of the ferris wheel and it hit me. How about a carnival/fair/circus theme? I love the colors in it and it can be quirky and fun for the family - it is a playroom in fact!

I'm not going to find all of these items, I'm sure, but I'm thinking I can get a lot of similar items at the local Homegoods. Plus, I found a great coffee table, two end tables and a chest (that I'm going to paint turquoise) on Craig's list last night for $80 - for everything! We are picking them up tonight!

So, do you have any fun themed rooms in your house?

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
