Something About Spring

Spring is finally here, thank goodness. It's been a long, hard winter for many of us and although I used to love snow as a child, I now realize why grown-ups never shared in the enthusiasm. I do enjoy experiencing all four seasons in North Carolina, but it always seems like right in the middle of one, we're wishing for the next to hurry up and get here.

This past weekend the weather was wonderful and allowed us to get out in the yard for work and play.

We cut the grass the first time this season. Isn't my yard guy (aka hubs) cute? I finally caved and ordered a lawn service this year to put fertilizer on the grass. Every year the houses across the street have the most beautiful grass because they get fertilized and I definitely don't want to be known as the house on the block with the dead grass.

I pulled weeds in the front flower bed. After being at our house for almost four years, my plants are finally starting to flourish! I get so excited when they come back each year.

We had the windows open all day Sunday. The fresh air was awesome and the musty fireplace smells from our wood-burning fireplace were wisked away.

And we spent some time hanging out on our front porch. It's one of my favorite features of our house, and we each have our own rocking chair. I love sitting out there in the spring, before the mosquitos get bad, watching the neighbors.

So, those are some of my favorite spring activities, what do you love about spring?

  1. Oh I'm jealous! It's getting warmer in GA but this past weekend was still really chilly. We're hoping we get a change of weather soon and get the warmer stuff coming our way.

  2. I got a little confused, thinking that the yard man you hired was who you thought was so hot, I'm thinking isn't she married. Oh well, sorry I reread now. Love the porch. What happens on the porch stays on the porch ;)

  8. The peepers singing at the nearby ponds, and my "first breath of spring" bush which smells so wonderful are two of my favorite springtime pleasures. (My husband has a lawn girl! or I guess at my age it should be lawn lady!)

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
