Giant Triple-Chocolate Cupcakes

Seriously, I'm having a rough week.
  • It's still January - will this month ever end?
  • Had a fight with my boss (and cried in his office - hate doing that).
  • Have no money because I caught up on all my Christmas bills and first-of-the-year taxes.
  • P.M.S. (see zits in above self-portrait)
Last night I decided to turn things around, so I made giant, triple-chocolate cupcakes, just because. And we ate them for dinner. All of us - including the dog. Needless to say, the little guy was bouncing off the walls at bedtime, but we were all in much better spirits.

This morning I was all pouty and weepy and Mike just hugged me and said, "if I was your boss, I'd give you the biggest raise I could." That lifted my spirits - almost as much as the chocolate. Almost.

"When life gives you PMS, make giant, triple-chocolate cupcakes. For dinner."

  1. Before I even read the post I thought, She looks so natural and pretty in that picture...hopefully chocolate and sincere flattery will do what even Pamprin cannot :)

  2. Oh sweetie...I'm so sorry :( I hate fighting with my boss and I have done that...couple times!!

I have done the "Eat-everything-bad-for-me" days too. Havea better day sweetie.

  3. hope you have a better day today! we all have those bad days and i might have to use your idea of chocolate to pick me up next time ;)

  4. When I have PMS I am just plain mean! I wish I was just weepy!!! :) Chocolate Cupcakes definitely make everything better!!!

  5. Triple chocolate cupcakes?!?!?!? They sound FABULOUS! I'm glad they brightened your day.

Bosses are a pain. And I HATE crying in front of them :(

    Hang in's almost February!!!

  6. YUM!!!

I've been breaking out a lot here lately too.

  7. love that you made cupcakes for dinner and yes it is a beautiful pic of you!

  8. Funny, the only vitamin that I have no trouble taking daily, is, CHOCOLATE!! Without the lows, there would be no highs, may you be rewarded soon with lots of highs to balance your universe. God knows and SHE is in control!

  9. Oh god. so effing delicious.

  10. I will definitely be making these! They sound delicious!!

Good luck with the boss. I know it's hard (not to mention stressful) when management issues arise at work. I suggest venting as needed to us (your readers) and getting a daily dose of Dilbert. :)

Keep up the great work on your blog!

  11. You are so beautiful in the picture!! SMILE!!! Please pray for me as I head to the Dominican/Haiti sunday!!

  12. This is my new favorite saying! Hope today is better -- and your husband sounds like a sweetheart.

  13. This is the BEST IDEA EVER. My husband made me chocolate cupcakes for dinner one day and it was so fun to do something "naughty." Hope you have a better day today!

  14. they have triple chocolate ice cream too! and it's good to the last drop in the middle of the night *grin*

  15. Awww, Wendy! I love you! I think you look cute and I would give you a raise if I had any money! :) Heck, I would pay you for the work you do for PPs if we had any money! You are awesome!

  16. hello ive just joined.

  17. Hey Stephanie! We made it! Tomorrow is February!!! I think a celebration is in order!!!! Should we all dress up like groundhogs and go dance in the snow?? I thought about streaking naked through the neighborhood but I can't run that fast and it would probably give somebody a heart attack!!! Any ideas??

  18. I'm sorry! I can definitely see those cupcakes helping, they sound amazing! I hope everything looks up very soon! I think that pic of you is beautiful!=)

  19. Chocolate is deadly to dogs!

Come On Get Happi with Happikins™

One of my girlfriends is a fabulous entrepreneur with several successful businesses under her belt. Her most recent endeavor reaches past general consumerism and takes a creative and fun approach to the impact we make on the environment.

Meet Happikins: There are 18,760 pounds of unnecessary lunchtime waste generated by the average elementary school each year. Paper napkins contribute to this waste — and they're also a drain on expenses. Did you know most kids use $200 worth of paper napkins a year?
Happikins are reusable cloth napkins designed specifically for kids. They can even be used as place mats for children who have food allergies. Happikins™ are a fun and easy way to teach your child the importance of making smart environmental choices. Oh, and wiping the crud off the corners of their mouths. You can choose from 3 sets of Happikins:
Each set of Happikins comes with five napkins and a durable pouch that makes a nice home for the napkins and fits nicely in a lunchbox. You can ev…

December 30th

It's the quiet days that sometimes get to me. I just got off the phone with my mom. I told her I have cabin fever. She said, "You probably won't be someone who should retire."

I replied, "I don't ever plan to".

This year Christmas was a bit slower, a bit quieter than usual. Maybe because everyone is getting a bit older, there are no babies around to cry or wail, and my grandparents seemed so feeble. With my uncle's passing this year, Mike having to work the day after Christmas and my dad not around - such a significant absence of the male figures that had always been there over the holidays.

My mother had bronchitis, and my nephew the flu. Walker and I both ended up with awful colds that we're still trying to get over.

My parents were kind to one another, amicable and friendly.

The presents were plentiful and Santa exceeded expectations.

The three sons/cousins/grandsons were happy and hyper.

So much buildup, and it always goes by too fast. I'…

Baby Shower Inspiration Board: Sweet Little Things

It's been a while since I posted an inspiration board, so when I saw that Angie Harmon's friends threw her a candy-inspired baby shower this weekend, I thought it would be fun to come up with some ideas of what it may have looked like! Yummy!
