When Mama's Sick

Sometimes life calls for compromise. This week has been rough because the little guy has been sick and now I've come down with the crud too. In an effort to 1: make the little guy smile and 2: get out of cooking, I let him choose what he wanted for dinner last night. His menu:

- Chocolate ice cream with sprinkles
- Squeeze cheese with crackers
- Peeps (thanks Nana)
- Guacamole dip with chips (OK, this was my menu addition)
- BBQ potato chips
- Milk (his choice, I promise!)

Hubs walks in, looks at our buffet spread out on the counter.
Him: What's for dinner?
Me: You're lookin at it.
Him: Dip? We're having dip for dinner?
Me: Dude, I'm sick, gimme a IS homemade...
Him: I'll fix a sandwich...
Me: Fine, more guacamole for us.

  1. Sounds like something my daughter would want, although she'd probably add some sort of ice cream. Hope you both get well soon! :O)

  2. Feel better! Tell the hubby that he can fix dinner for the family is he doesn't like the fantasticly random buffet spread. :-)

  3. That's such a cute menu! Hope you feel better soon!!

  4. That is the cutest thing ever! I wish I would've been there! It sounds way better than our dinner :)

  6. Sounds like a great dinner to me!

  7. feel better! and ice cream with sprinkles sounds like a perfectly good dinner to me!

  8. All I have to say is: What's wrong with this menu? Is it supposed to be unusual in some way? Are squeeze cheese and Peeps not part of a well-balanced meal??? Now you tell me! P.S. Hope y'all are feeling better.

  9. Hysterical...I LOVE your little guys menu selections...absolutely priceless...hey, at least he was going to wash it all down with a glass of milk. I hope you all feel better real soon!

  10. lol at the menu. I am a closet cheese in a can lover. psst Don't tell. ;) Hope you feel better soon.

  11. Great for me. Sometimes husbands just don't have any sense of humor....go figure..

  13. No judgement here! When Jamie had a match to coach one night Caitlyn adn I pretty much took three avocados and had chips and guacamole for dinner...

Madder than a Wet Hen

Sunday afternoon, I went to the grocery store, came home, left the car unlocked for hubs to get the groceries out (hey, I buy, he puts them up) and I forgot to lock the car back . Monday morning, I get into the car and everything has been pulled out of the glove compartment, middle console and backseat pockets. Unfortunately, the little guy left his Nintendo DS Lite in the back because he was playing it at the yard sale this weekend. It's the only thing of value I left in the car and they got it. It just makes me so mad. Now I feel like an idiot - I haven't reported it to the police yet because I don't want a lecture about locking my car doors at night - I know I'm supposed to, just forgot!!!! Hubs is now obsessed with catching the criminals, sleeping with one eye open at night . I'd heard that the economy has caused more crime, but why did they have to steal from us, from my little guy?

The Power of Prayer

I wanted to update on a previous post about my uncle ( you can read it here ). In September, he was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. He has undergone numerous rounds of chemo and radiation and received results back from his latest PET scan this Monday. Of chief concern was the tumor in the lower lobe of the right lung and the lymph nodes in the center of his chest. The scan showed that there was NO cancer activity in the lymph nodes! All in all, it was a great report! My aunt and uncle, with their grandkids. My prayer list is long for friends and family members struggling with disease and lately, I hear of so many children struggling as well. It's so hard not to question God during these times, but to put complete faith in him - which is much easier said than done! Isaiah 40:31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Pretty Women

I think I've seen the movie Pretty Woman about 100 times and it will always be my favorite. My husband thinks it's the cheesiest movie he has ever seen, but hey, he's not the target audience. So, my tour of Rodeo Dr started at the Reg Bev Will (Pretty Woman fans, you know what I'm talking about). Walking through it, the lobby looked so much smaller than in the movie. We ended up at the back entrance, and plopped down on a bench and acted like we owned the place for a bit while watching for anyone famous. We saw numerous $100 thousand+ cars, and one chick with long blonde hair (only from the back) that had to be famous, but we didn't see her face. Then, we walked down Rodeo, into a couple of stores that I couldn't afford to buy a keychain in, tried on a $1,200 pair of shoes, and walked right into a celebrity sighting. One of my goals while in LA was to see someone famous. And, she may not be on the A-list, but it was still pretty cool. Meet the beautiful Cam
