Not Sleepy

My little guy has never been much of a sleeper. He didn't sleep through the night until he was two. Here's one of my favorite photo sessions from when he was about seven months old. He was supposed to be taking a nap, but would not go to sleep. He was so cute, I had to take pictures.
Now, he's almost four and still fights sleep every night. It's not a mean fight, it's pretty entertaining most nights actually.Last night, as most nights, he got really chatty when I turned the lights out. Here's just some of our conversation
"Mommie, I like valentines, they are so pretty."
"Me too sweetie, now go to sleep."
"Mommie, I like you hair. It's so soft."
Then he says the thing every mommie wants to hear...
"Mommie, you're the bestest mommie ever, you know?"
How does a three (almost four) year old come up with that?
All to fight sleep.

  1. Aww...pulled a little heart string of mine...very sneaky little one!

  2. He is adorable, great pictures! Thanks for commenting on my blog, hope you have a great day.

  3. I can so relate to this posting! My almost four year old was 18 months old before he slept through the night and still fights it. We have similar dialogue to yours each night and it amazes me how he can come up with some emergency that wasn't important 20 minutes ago but now is earth-shattering...all to avoid sleep.

Glad to know I am not the only one :)

I found your blog a few months ago and really enjoy reading...thanks for sharing.

  4. what an adorable child! He is too cute...And so smart too, he's figured out how to procratinate bedtime! :)

  5. what a little heartbreaker!!

  6. What a total little charmer...Going to have to watch him once he's old enough for girlfriends....

  7. Mine is not a sleeper either...he'll be 5 next month. Just wait, the excuses and the compliments get even more creative!

  8. That is so precious I am dying!!! Landon skipped his nap today and I hope this doesn't become a habit!!!

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest!

To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!!

So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop. So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want!

So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out! And may the force be with you!

New Addition to the Family...

Meet the newest member of our extended family, Sporky. Sporky arrived Christmas day and was the one and ONLY thing my 12-year-old nephew wanted for Christmas. I've never held a hedgehog before now and it's not a pleasant experience when they point their spikes out at you, but Sporky started to overcome his shyness as the holidays passed and he's starting to get used to all of the attention. He really is a cutie.

Baby Shower Inspiration Board: Sweet Little Things

It's been a while since I posted an inspiration board, so when I saw that Angie Harmon's friends threw her a candy-inspired baby shower this weekend, I thought it would be fun to come up with some ideas of what it may have looked like! Yummy!
