My Christmas Gift

The single, one and only thing I requested for Christmas this year was money to buy a nice camera. I'm sick of taking blurry pictures of a toddler and a puppy. A couple of people have asked what kind of camera I got, so here's the scoop...

My cousin by marriage is a professional photographer and my neighbor is an amateur, but very good photographer, and they both recommended the Canon Rebel. I was leaning towards the Nikon D, which is probably a great camera too, but they both suggested I pick the Rebel.

My neighbor gave me a great site to buy the camera. Their prices are great and shipping is free: B&H Photo. He suggested I go with either the 10.1 megapixel Rebel, or the 12.2 megapixel model. I went for the 10.1 model because it's $484 vs. $589 and the only main difference is how large you can blow up the pics to print out. He also suggested I get the camera bag, the memory card, the rechargeable battery and the UV protector filter.

I also want to purchase an additional lens, but I'm going to have to save my pennies up to spend a couple hundred more on this hobby!

  1. Very exciting! I almost bought this one last year but was talked out of it and am now so disappointed in my decision. My birthday is coming up... maybe if I'm very good....

  3. We are planning on purchasing a nice camera in the next week or so-before the baby comes. We were looking at a Nikon but this one sounds like a great deal. I do not know much about cameras so forgive me if this is a silly questions - but is there a time delay on it? That is one of the most important features we are looking for - no time delay so we can capture all those cute moments!

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your new toy!!!

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
