Meet George

I've been sleeping with a monkey since I was two years old. His name is George and he has been through everything with me. He is covered in snot and tears and I can still pick out the stitches my pre-school babysitter used to sew him up when I was five. My grandmother restuffed him so he could sit on the front pew of my wedding. He shared the bed with my husband and me until my son was born. But I've recently had to retire him to the shelf. He's so very tender and sensitive, it doesn't take much to hurt him these days.

Santa shopped on eBay for my son's first Christmas and was able to find an exact same George as the one I received when I was two. He was purchased from an old estate sale in up-state New York and was found in the attic of an old woman's home. He probably belonged to one of her children at one time. He is in pristine condition and he now hangs out with the original George in my son's room.

Just another fun thing you can do on eBay. Do you have a childhood toy that you remember or even still have? Think about telling Santa to bring it to your little one. It really brings back memories and makes a special gift.

  4. Oh how I love this tender and sweet post. I have so many fave things from childhood. One is a brown bear with bright red buttons for eyes. I think I got it second hand and my grandmother sewed those buttons on. We have always called it The Teddy Bear with No Eyes. (sounds a little creepy now).

  6. I have/had a blankie and a small teddybear ball (named Toby) that my parents put in my incubator when I was born 3 months premature. My mom won't even let me have it until I have a permanent home.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
