Have Your Cake, But You Can't Eat It Too!

I’m on a plane to Toronto and just read an article in Newsweek about how the wedding industry is suffering from the current state of our economy. It gives some ideas of how to cut wedding costs and the wildest one was that brides are having their wedding cakes make our of Styrofoam, with only the top layer made of real cake for the cake-cutting bit and pictures. Then they serve the guests cheap sheet cake.

Wonder if I’ve ever been to a styrofoam wedding cake wedding?

My best friend recently got married and opted for the smaller affair, but it was one of the most wonderful weddings I’ve ever been to. (Maybe because the wedding director, Moi, was so fab.) It was a beautiful ceremony in the back yard of her brother’s house, with a pool and outdoor bar. That’s the way to go – congratulations D!

  1. I had a styrofome wedding cake! Mine was bc I wanted height to the cake without a gold/silver pedestal. So it was a 5 layer cake but only 4 were actual cakes. 4 layers(3 minus anniversary tier) was way too much for our 180 guests. You couldn't even tell. Didn't even think of having all fake and sheet cake.

Baby Shower Inspiration Board: Sweet Little Things

It's been a while since I posted an inspiration board, so when I saw that Angie Harmon's friends threw her a candy-inspired baby shower this weekend, I thought it would be fun to come up with some ideas of what it may have looked like! Yummy!

New Addition to the Family...

Meet the newest member of our extended family, Sporky. Sporky arrived Christmas day and was the one and ONLY thing my 12-year-old nephew wanted for Christmas. I've never held a hedgehog before now and it's not a pleasant experience when they point their spikes out at you, but Sporky started to overcome his shyness as the holidays passed and he's starting to get used to all of the attention. He really is a cutie.

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest!

To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!!

So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop. So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want!

So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out! And may the force be with you!
