Destination Durham: Durham Farmer's Market

Growing up, we got our fresh fruits and veggies from our garden, or my grandparent's garden. Now that I live somewhere I can't have a couple acres for my garden, I realize that the rest of the world gets their fix at the local farmer's market.

The Durham Farmer's Market is one not to be missed. Filled with local vendors, sweet and savory goodies and scents from heaven, you can spend hours there just looking at everything.

Some of my favorite vendors are Angel's Nest Bakery, with their wonderful baked goods and sweets that always sell out, Lil Farm, with beautiful vegetables and flowers, Emma's Desserts, serving fried pies and tarts and Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm, which has wonderful sausage and steaks.

Walker loves it too. I give him his own money and he picks how he wants to spend it. Typically on a cookie on a stick or a cupcake, then lemonade and whatever else he can squeeze out of his leftover change.

This past Saturday included a cooking competition between three local chefs - kinda like iron chef. Their main ingredient was squash and they came up with different dishes for the audience to try. Best thing about the day was dinner that night - I cooked corn on the cob with sliced tomatoes, pan-fried zesty Italian sausage and fresh sliced bread. It was my farmer's market special of the day!

So what about you guys? Do you visit your local farmer's market? What do you love most about it?

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
