I've been sleeping with a monkey since I was two years old. His name is George and he has been through everything with me. He is covered in snot and tears and I can still pick out the stitches my pre -school babysitter used to sew him up when I was five. My grandmother restuffed him so he could sit on the front pew of my wedding. He shared the bed with my husband and me until my son was born. But I've recently had to retire him to the shelf. He's so very tender and sensitive, it doesn't take much to hurt him these days. Santa shopped on eBay for my son's first Christmas and was able to find an exact same George as the one I received when I was two. He was purchased from an old estate sale in up-state New York and was found in the attic of an old woman's home. He probably belonged to one of her children at one time.
