I love a hotel. Always have - and my sister shares that same love as I. I just don't love paying for them. Growing up, if we traveled, we stayed in mostly budget-friendly hotels when we had to travel, but my parents always splurged for nicer places for vacation at the beach.
Traveling with work, I get to stay in nice places, so I'm spoiled, so I like to stay in nicer places when I travel for fun too. Thankfully, Mike's family has a beach place, so we don't have to spend money on a place to stay when we get the urge to feel the sand in our toes, but when I get the urge to travel other places, I've got to suck it up and pay.
In a earlier post, I referenced trips I wanted to take this year, including our trip to DC, Charleston for our anniversary and hopes to go to NYC for Christmas. I'm pleased to say that all of these trips have/will come true and all because of one little secret that I've always known, but never tried - Priceline.com.I'm telling you guys - I'd always heard about the "name your price" option on priceline.com, but was always scared to use it, but you can put in so many options, you won't end up with a bad place.
So, we stayed in DC at the Washington DC Westin and The Capitol Hilton - each night for around $90 a night - which is significantly less than the posted rates on their websites. And I've got us booked for three nights in Charleston in September for our anniversary at the Best Western Charleston - which is probably the nicest Best Western I've ever seen - and located on the main drag - all for around $100 a night.
Then, I was able to book us three nights in NYC at a 3 1/2 star hotel, The Roosevelt, for $450 total - all through Priceline!!! I'm so excited to be able to see the city at Christmas and can't wait for my little guy to experience it with me!
So, just wanted to share that tip with you guys - no one paid me to write this or anything - it's just too good not to share!

YES! I have great luck with priceline too. I recently stayed in DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival for $69 a night at the Marriott and then also got a room at a Residence Inn in Philadelphia, also for $69 a night. Basically, I start out REALLY low when I bid and never choose below a three star hotel. It's great!
ReplyDeleteHave an excellent time on your trips!
I love the Roosevelt! We've stayed there a couple of times and it is fabulous. What a great location! We love walking over to Pershing Square for breakfast. And at Christmastime they have hot apple cider in the lobby. You will make such wonderful memories there!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to use Priceline all the time a few years ago and was never disappointed with my hotel. Congrats on the great deals! And how fun you're going to such wonderful places!
ReplyDeleteI do love some priceline... glad you are able to take some summer vacations with the family!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE a good hotel as well, and traveling with family! Have a great time! I've yet to try priceline, but I think I just might have to now, thanks for the tip!
