Hey Hollywood...

Monday was my first full day in L.A. and I think I squealed twice. Once, when I saw the Hollywood sign the first time out of my room window, and two, when I saw my first Pinkberry.

I woke up at 4:30 am, worked out, ate breakfast, worked on my laptop a bit and then had to go kick off the tradeshow we're out here for. Mid afternoon, walked around downtown a bit and had a Hollywood encounter: walked right through a shooting of 24! It was pretty exciting, but it didn't get a squeal because I don't watch that show. On the other hand, my mom squealed pretty high when I told her about it.

After a couple of more hours on the laptop, I met up with a sweet friend of mine from high school that lives here and he showed us around. We drove down Sunset, saw the official Beverly Hills sign, parked on Hollywood and walked around on the stars. We stood in front of the Chinese theatre, and saw a real red carpet. Unfortunately, it was being rolled away because we had just missed the world premier of Robin Williams' and John Travolta's new Disney movie. The security guys actually said they were still in the theatre watching the movie!

Then we had dinner at a local spot (the most wonderful buttersquash ravioli EVER!!!!) and we headed back to the hotel. I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post - had a real celebrity encounter today!!!!

  5. I am so jealous right now! The only time I went to LA I was sequestered for two weeks for a stupid reality tv show that I didn't even get onto... and i literally couldn't leave my hotel room except for dr appts, and to eat.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
