How to Tie a "Perfect" Bow

This may seem elementary to some, but it's a trick I learned a couple of years ago from my husband's aunt. She has a cute little stationery and gift shop and before I had the little man, I used to help her out every once in a while with wrapping gifts (especially around Christmas). She taught me how to tie a perfect bow on a gift, and as I was wrapping my father's gift last week, I decided to take pics of the process to share with y'all.

  1. Wrap a ribbon around the package, leaving enough length to tie around a second piece of ribbon and leave trailing tails.
  2. Cut another piece of ribbon and fold into a bow, but do not tie. Length and size depends on how large you want the bow to be.
  3. Tie the ribbon from #1 around the package and tighten - if you want, you can tie a knot (but if you don't tie a knot, it makes it much easier for someone to untie the ribbon when opening).
  4. Lay the piece of ribbon from #2 on top of the piece tied around the package from #1.
  5. Take ribbon #1 and tie around #2.
  6. And that's it! If you want to make the bow more elaborate, you can continue to add loops of ribbon on top of each other and just keep tying them in place.

  1. That's great! I can never tie a pretty bow, no matter how many times my husband's aunt tries to show me...I'm a nightmare on dresses with sashes! But at least my next gift wrapping excursion may work out better!

Star Wars Gift Bag Tags

Two years ago, for Walker's Star Wars birthday, I created Yoda tags to attach to the gift bags for the party. Little did I know these bag tags would become so popular on Pinterest! To date, these tags have been repinned almost 500 times!!! So I thought since there's so much interest, I'd add them to my Etsy shop . So now, for just $8.00 - you can receive the file electronically and print them for yourself! I jazzed them up a bit with some sliver glitter puff paint on the light saber and some silver ribbon to attach to the dollar store bags. Print as many or as few as you want! So, if you are planning a Star Wars party, check them out ! And may the force be with you!

Baby Shower Inspiration Boards

I got all excited about the baby shower inspiration board contest over at Sippycups Are for Chardonnay , but only ended up submitting this first one on time. I managed to pull the second together this weekend just for kicks and loved the colors, so thought I'd share here. The first board is call "Nesting Instincts" and the second is "Over the Rainbow". I think I could get addicted to creating these things.
