I Finally Finished!

I've referenced the Twilight saga in several posts now, and I finally finished the fourth book this weekend. Seems like a lot of people I've talked to my age and of the "girly" persuasion look at me funny when I say I'm reading these books, but I'm telling you, I really enjoyed them and could not put them down.

I am totally not someone that is into vampires and science fiction and all that and that's what I think people think when they hear what these books are about. That's what I first thought when I heard about them, but I'm a sucker for pop culture, so thought I'd pick up a copy to see what all the fuss was about - and I got sucked in too.

Contrary to what people think, these books are not gross or bloody. The first book, Twilight, is a story about the most wonderful, amazing, all-encompassing kind of love that exists and how two people from very different backgrounds and DNA, for that matter, are attracted to each other. If you've ever been dumped, the second book is going to really hit home. The books build on their love and relationship and they are just easy-to-ready stories about life and love (with a little twist).

There has been some backlash on the books because the female heroine is always in distress and is rescued by her man, but come on, I'd love for Edward Cullen (you have to read the book to truly understand how perfect this vampire is) to save me any time.

The first book has been made into a movie and is being released November 21. You can see a trailer here. I'll leave it to you to make your final judgement, but sometimes it's hard to find a good book. In this case, I found 4. You'll either love them or hate them, but if you're up for something new, give it a whirl. You just might like it.

  1. But didn't you think that Bella got really annoying at times with the whole, "if you ever leave me i'll just die" speech that she agve every 2 minutes (especially in New Moon). Overall I have liked books 1 and 2 (that is all I have read so far) but Bella still annoys me. I guess it also concerns me that these books are for young adults and I thought that Bella being so dependent on Edward isn't exactly the message I would want my teenage daughter to get...anyway, I digress

Glad you liked the series...I still have 2 more to go.

Happy Pills

I'm a crazy person. At least, that's what I feel like some times. And it runs in my family. No, not really crazy (and don't take offense if you are one of me), but just clinically depressed and filled with anxiety. It's as if I don't have something to worry about in my head constantly, then I don't feel normal. Luckily, there's a pill for that. It's a bitter pill, one that I'll basically have to take the rest of my life, but I've slowly accepted that it's like any other disease, and just like diabetes or heart disease, that little pill is gonna make me better. But that little pill makes me gain weight, gives me the brain shivers when I miss it, and although I've tried to get off it multiple times, I just can't. So I guess that makes me an addict as well. But it's a pill that my grandparents and family didn't always have, and they suffer from it as well, so I should be thankful for this little red capsule of happiness...
